Privacy Policy

Last updated: 19 October 2026.

Your privacy matters, particularly when you choose to share personal experiences, questions or information about your relationships and your life. This policy explains what information reaches me through this website, what I do with it, and what you can ask me to do about it.

1. Who is responsible

This website is operated by Carole Favre, author, international facilitator and men’s coach, trading as Small Matters, United Kingdom. For anything to do with your personal information, write to thewordsofcarole@gmail.com.

2. What the website itself collects

The website has no database, no accounts and no backend. Nothing you type into a page is stored on the website. Information reaches me only when you choose to send it, in one of the ways below.

3. Email enquiries

Buttons marked Book me, Email me, Ask me for the full text, Invite me to speak and the envelope in the footer open your own email program with my address and a subject line filled in. Nothing is sent until you send it. I then hold your message in my email account and use it to answer you and, where relevant, to follow up on the matter you wrote about. Writing to me does not add you to any mailing list.

4. The chapter, the guides and downloads

If you ask for the first chapter of The Book of Ọ́lá or a free guide, your email address is collected and stored by Kit (kit.com), the email service I use, and the file is delivered by Kit. Downloading something does not subscribe you to a newsletter; any further emails require your separate agreement, and every one of them carries an unsubscribe link.

5. The coaching questionnaire

Before an introductory coaching call I ask you to answer thirteen questions. The form is hosted by Tally (tally.so), which stores your answers and passes them to me. I read every application myself and use it to understand your situation and prepare for the conversation.

The questions are there for that purpose and no other. They are not a medical or psychological assessment, and answering them does not put you on a mailing list. Some of what you write may be personal. Share only what you are comfortable sharing; anything you leave out can be said on the call instead, or not at all.

6. Booking a call

Introductory calls are booked through Calendly, which collects the name, email address and any answers given on its own form. Calls are usually held over a video-conferencing service. What is said in a coaching conversation is treated as confidential, within the limits of the law and of the services we use to speak. I will not record a call without telling you and obtaining any consent the law requires.

7. The book

If you contact me about The Book of Ọ́lá, I use your details to answer you. Where a copy is bought through a bookseller, retailer or payment provider, that company collects and handles the transaction under its own privacy policy, not mine.

8. Newsletter

I may introduce a newsletter about the writing, the book, events and workshops. Subscribing to it will always be a separate, deliberate act, and you will be able to unsubscribe at any time. Your address will not be added to it because you booked a call, answered the questionnaire, downloaded a guide or sent me an email.

9. Why I am allowed to hold it (UK and EU visitors)

Under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR, anyone holding personal information has to state the legal basis for it. Mine are these:

Kit, Tally and Calendly are based in the United States, so these details are stored outside the UK and the EU. Each commits to the standard data protection clauses approved for such transfers.

10. Who else processes it

These companies process information on my behalf, to provide those services. I do not sell personal information and I do not share it with anyone else.

11. Security and how long I keep it

I take reasonable measures to protect personal information from unauthorised access, loss or disclosure. No internet service can promise absolute security. Email correspondence is kept while it is useful and deleted on request. Subscriber details stay in Kit until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete them. Questionnaire answers and booking details stay in Tally and Calendly, and are deleted on request.

12. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may ask me to:

Write to thewordsofcarole@gmail.com and I will deal with it myself.

13. Cookies and analytics

This site sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics, advertising or tracking. Kit, Tally and Calendly may set their own cookies when you use their forms or booking pages, under their policies. If I ever add analytics, this page will say so and explain any choices you have.

14. Links to other websites

This site links to LinkedIn, Calendly, Tally, Kit and booksellers. They operate under their own privacy policies, and I am not responsible for what they do with information you give them directly.

15. Changes

This policy will be updated when the website, the services behind it or the law change. The current version is always on this page, with its date at the top.
