The Book of Ọ́lá — a novel by Carole C. Favre
Literary Fiction · Debut Novel

A deeply intimate novel about the making of a man, and the hard childhood rules shaping his heart.

Born in the chaos of Lagos, caught between family and Yorùbá expectations, Ọ́lá learns early what’s expected of a boy already expected to be a man. The only love that is conditionless comes from strangers. And the strangers don’t stay.

Betrayed and bruised, he carves commandments into his heart. Exiled to the UK, he carries them with him, adding new rules about love, control, success and survival.

When love finds him as an adult – something his commandments cannot explain – Ọ́lá must choose between the man he’s grown into and the man he’s meant to become; between what he knows to be true and what he’s forgotten to feel.

Told with the tenderness of a woman who gifted him her heart,
The Book of Ọ́lá asks:

Will he sacrifice his armour or love?

Relationship Coaching

I help you see what you can’t see and understand what’s confusing because you really can’t be both the frame and the picture: the patterns, behaviours, contradictions and assumptions shaping your choices and relationships.

I get underneath the stories you tell yourself so you can stop listening to your own BS and stop repeating the same mistakes.

Together, we turn that clarity into EMOTIONAL COURAGE: you grow from being a good man to one who stands grounded and loves deeply.

TRACE. DISRUPT. REWRITE.

We trace what made you, disrupt what no longer serves you, and rewrite what happens next.

Workshops

Put me in a room with people who don’t think alike. That’s where I shine.

Across cultures, I challenge the ‘truths’ people hold, reframe old narratives, and anchor trust to bring people closer through experiential exchanges, wisdom, research, and deep, honest conversations.

Living across four continents taught me there is no universal instruction manual for humans.

What participants say

“The way Carole structured and delivered the course, and above all the comprehensive content, provided practical tools to all of us. ’M’e Carole has an authentic personality, is highly professional, and gave us her continued support throughout the two years I attended her training.”

Tumelo · Intercultural Workshops

“Carole’s strong connection to her inner strength is evident in her workshops: she’s born to be a teacher. Every time I attend her session, I leave moved — and I have often cried too. Her writing prompts are never just about writing.”

Darcy · Writing Workshops

“The most important elements of a successful event are invisible — or should be, when the production’s pulled off right. The participants may never notice the effort behind the work she does. It’s designed to be missed.”
